Why

Owing to its privileged setting and wonderful facilities, Morzine has developed into one of Europe’s most well-known winter and summer alpine resorts and a great choice for family holidays in either season. Whilst an internationally renowned holiday destination, Morzine has remained a picturesque traditional market town with a long and proud history.

Located in the French Alps, between Lake Geneva and Mont Blanc, this is genuinely one of the most beautiful areas of the world. Morzine is at the centre of one of the largest internationally linked ski area in the Alps, les Portes du Soleil. In summer the region is paradise for lovers of the mountains and the alpine environment, with the village waking up again with activities, sports, festivals and celebrations.

Morzine is easily accessible from the UK and Ireland, with a short airport transfer of just over an hour from Geneva, (check deals from Britiish Airways or serach deals with Expedia), or little over an 8-hour drive from Calais. See our Ferries, and Car Hire page.

    Stay

Morzine has accommodation for all requirements and budgets. Catered chalets are a popular choice for private groups seeking exclusive occupancy. Local hotels provide an authentic French experience and sometimes more flexible booking dates including short breaks. Self-catered apartments are also available. • Morzine boasts an immense variety of skiing and snowboarding for families of all abilities, with 650km of pistes and more than 200 lifts across 13 linked resorts in France and Switzerland.
      • Morzine is fortunate to have many excellent ski schools, from the French national ski school (ESF) to smaller independent schools such as the British Alpine Ski School (BASS).
      • There is an array of non-skiing activities available including snow-shoeing, ice skating, tobogganing, paragliding, snow-scootering, husky riding and horse-drawn sleighs. For the less active, the village offers cultural and heritage visits, superb shops and a large choice of cafes, bars and restaurants.

    Things to Do in Summer

    •
      • Swimming in Morzine Lakes and Olympic size outdoor pool
      • Toboggan Racing
      • Airborne Adventure Park - for older children & great for teens
      • Zip wire
      • Indiana Park - a bridge, ladder, tarzan swing, gangway 2 hour circuit adventure - fun adventure for younger children
      • Iceskating
      •  Horse Riding
      • Mountain Boarding
      • Skate Park
      • Quad biking
      • Mountain Donkey Rambles
      • 11 Tennis Courts
      • Rafting, Canyoning, Parapenting, Rock climbing and Caving
      • Mountain treks, cycle routes and ski lift assistance
      • Golf course

But don't forget this is also the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery and pure mountain air. The ski lifts operate to access hundreds of kilometres of footpaths and mountain bike trails with stunning panoramic views.

The town bustles with excitement, festivals and events including a weekly market, world mountain bike and paragliding championships, the Mont-Blanc Rally and not forgetting le Tour de France. There are many places to visit, and within the village are local cultural and heritage visits, shops, cafés, bars and restaurants.

    Eat

Many chalets and hotels provide excellent in-house meals. The local restaurants cater for most budgets and tastes, from pizza and pasta to steaks and hearty meat dishes, local Savoyard specialities and gourmet haute French cuisine. Many also offer an excellent daily ‘plat du jour’. There are also a wide range of scenic mountain restaurants and snack bars. Alternatively, why have a picnic in the mountains overlooking Mont Blanc!

    Cost

Generally speaking, Morzine is reasonable priced for a major alpine resort. Like any resort, during the peak winter ski season, prices can become very expensive. Easter is highly recommended for family ski holidays, with great snow conditions until late April, long sunny days, no lift queues, a relaxed family atmosphere and cheaper prices!

During the summer months, accommodation is generally cheaper. Activities can be expensive but are highly professional and good value with an emphasis on fun and safety alike. There is also plenty to do for all the family that costs little or nothing, for example walking in the mountains and swimming in the alpine lakes!

Warning!:- Self-catering can be a more expensive option than families may first think. Beware of the extra work involved and hidden extras, i.e. transfers, car hire, eating out etc
